How Much Does Newborn Photography Cost in the San Francisco Bay Area?

How Much Does Newborn Photography Cost in the San Francisco Bay Area?

One of the first questions I hear from expecting parents is simple: how much does newborn photography cost? It's a fair question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you want to walk away with. A gallery of files on your phone and a finished heirloom album on your coffee table are two very different things.

After more than 15 years and over 1,000 families photographed in my Walnut Creek studio, I want to make this easy. Below is exactly how newborn photography pricing works with us, what most Bay Area families invest, and what's included at every step.

The Short Answer

At Eva Baker Photography, newborn sessions begin with a session fee of $450 (Signature) or $250 (Petite). Your session fee reserves your date and covers the full studio experience. It does not include digital files or prints.

After your session, you'll return to the studio to choose your artwork. Most families invest between $3,000 and $4,000 in their finished collection of albums, wall art, and digital files.

What Shapes the Cost of Newborn Photography in the Bay Area

As you compare Bay Area newborn photographers, you'll see prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand. Here's what usually explains the difference.

What You Actually Receive

Some photographers deliver a gallery of digital files and the experience ends there. Others, like our studio, guide you all the way to finished artwork. We design your album and gallery wall for you, so your images live on your walls instead of disappearing into a folder.

Experience With Newborns

Posing a newborn calmly and safely takes years of practice. I've spent more than 15 years photographing newborns, and every session moves at baby's pace. Feeding, soothing, and cuddle breaks are always part of the plan.

The Studio Experience

Our studio is kept warm and cozy, and everything you need is already here: wraps, props, backdrops, and a curated wardrobe for baby. Signature sessions include professional hair and makeup for mama, so you can step into the photos feeling like yourself.

What Families Invest in Artwork

About three weeks after your session, you'll come back to the studio to view your portraits and select the images you love most. Our full-service experience takes the work out of artwork: we design your album and gallery wall so all you have to do is choose.

Most families invest $3,000 to $4,000. Here's where our artwork begins:

  • Custom heirloom albums: handcrafted with archival materials and thick layflat pages, with covers in Italian leather, European linen and more. $100 per image; 20+ images complete an album.

  • Matted folio albums: handmade with archival matboard, holding 10 to 20 prints. $150 per image.

  • Custom framed prints: starting at $700.

  • Custom gallery walls: starting at $1400.

Digital Files

Digital files are designed to complement your artwork. As your artwork investment grows, your digital collection is discounted or included. You can view our current pricing HERE.

First-Year Memberships

If you'd like to document your baby's whole first year, a membership is the most thoughtful way to do it. Each membership session includes everything in our Signature session, plus a $150 album credit per session.

  • 3-session membership: $1,150, plus a $200 album credit per session ($600 total)

  • 4-session membership: $1,350, plus a $200 album credit per session ($800 total)

Many families begin with maternity, return for newborn, and come back for milestones as baby sits up and celebrates a first birthday.

Why San Francisco Families Make the Drive to Walnut Creek

Our studio sits in downtown Walnut Creek at 1954-B Mt. Diablo Blvd, less than an hour from the city. Families come to us from San Francisco, Marin, Oakland, Berkeley, and even the Peninsula for one reason: a calm, full-service studio where every detail is handled for them.

We also welcome families from right here in the East Bay, including Lafayette, Orinda, Danville, Alamo, and San Ramon.

How It Works

  1. Plan your session. We start with a phone consultation to learn about your family, your vision, and your home.

  2. Enjoy your session. Relax in the studio while we take care of you and your baby.

  3. Choose your artwork. About three weeks later, you'll return to view your portraits and design the pieces you'll treasure for a lifetime.

Newborn sessions take place within the first two weeks after your due date for those classic sleepy poses, so we recommend reaching out during your pregnancy to reserve your spot.
